Drip trail under the water pump?
Every pump has a small weep hole: if coolant drips from it, the shaft seal is worn and the pump needs replacing. If the pump sits behind the timing belt, replace the belt and tensioner pulleys at the same time — otherwise you pay the labour twice. Electric pumps (such as on BMWs) usually announce themselves with a fault code or a rising temperature at low revs.
