Two-stroke smoking, down on power or hard to start?
On older Yamaha and Suzuki two-strokes, compression loss from worn piston rings is the classic problem: poor cold starting, less pulling power and eventually a seizure. Measure the compression first — if it falls clearly below the factory value, the diagnosis is all but confirmed. A complete top-end kit with cylinder, piston, rings and gaskets then works out cheaper than reconditioning parts separately, and you can be sure all the sizes belong together. Run the engine in gently after assembly before loading it fully.
