Working on a suspension starts with the right tools. Never skimp on a spring compressor: a compressed coil spring holds enough energy to cause serious injury, so use one that matches the spring diameter and fit it symmetrically. With a bushing press set you press in silent blocks and wheel bearings without damaging the control arm or steering knuckle, and a hydraulic ball joint splitter prevents damaged threads and torn boots. If you are building a project car, measure the mounting points first before ordering a universal 4-link kit or drop spindles — fitting comes before looks.
