Whining noise at full lock?
A whining or groaning pump at full lock is the classic sign of wear or air in the system. Check the fluid level and lines first; if the noise persists or steering becomes heavy at low revs, the pump is due for replacement. Flush the system when fitting and use fresh steering fluid to the manufacturer's specification — contaminated fluid will otherwise ruin the new pump as well. Compare the OE number (e.g. 32416766190 or 7H0422153H) to be sure of the correct version.
