Seized bolts and the correct tightening torques
Bolts that a garage has tightened with an impact wrench come loose with a long breaker bar — buy one before you start, not halfway through the job. During reassembly, a torque wrench then prevents snapped studs and warped brake discs. Choose chrome-vanadium sockets for hand work and the black impact sockets (Cr-Mo) as soon as an impact wrench is involved; ordinary sockets can split under impact. With this basic kit you can do most maintenance without special tools.
