Borrow or buy special tools?
For timing work, locking tools that match your exact engine code are not a luxury but a necessity: jumping a single tooth means bent valves on an interference engine. Our sets are therefore described by engine code — for example EN-46788 for the Alfa 1.75 TBi or 0109-2A for the PSA 1.2 VTi — so you know in advance that it fits. Combine with a calibrated torque wrench and you tighten every bolt to the factory value. That way the tools pay for themselves on the very first job compared with a garage visit.
