Air conditioning

Air con no longer cooling — compressor or clutch?

If the magnetic clutch audibly fails to engage, a separate clutch kit can save the complete compressor. If the compressor itself makes noise or metal swarf enters the system, replace it entirely and flush the lines. With every compressor change, fit a new receiver drier, have the system evacuated and fill with the prescribed amount of PAG oil and refrigerant — otherwise any gain in service life is lost.
