Sensors
Sensors for engine management, exhaust after-treatment, ABS and ride height control: NOx sensors for the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes CLS, E-Class and Sprinter, lambda sensors for the Toyota RAV4, ABS sensors for the Volvo S60/V70, Audi A1 and A3, BMW 3 Series and X3, VW Polo and Opel Insignia, ride height sensors for the Audi A3, Q7 and VW Touareg, and exhaust gas temperature sensors for the Renault Master, Nissan and Opel. Supplemented by lambda sensor sockets and thread repair kits to remove seized sensors cleanly.
Fault code? Check the connector and wiring first
A fault code points to a measuring circuit, not necessarily a faulty component. Corrosion in the connector, a chafed cable near the wheel arch (a classic with ABS sensors) or an exhaust leak upstream of the lambda sensor produce exactly the same message. Check that first, and always compare the OE number when replacing — NOx sensors, for example, are highly specific to each engine variant. If the old sensor is stuck fast, remove it with a lambda sensor socket and penetrating oil; if the thread is damaged, an M18x1.5 thread repair kit will solve it.
