Brake calipers
Brake calipers for the front and rear axle, individually or as a left + right set. The range covers the VW Golf and Passat, Audi A3, BMW 3 Series (E36/E46) and 1 Series, Opel Astra and Vectra, Renault Clio and Trafic, Honda Jazz, Toyota Auris/Corolla and Mercedes Vito, among others — with the piston diameter and OE number in the title, so you can identify the correct version at a glance.
Recognising a seized brake caliper — and replacing in axle pairs
A seized piston or slide pin keeps the brake pad in constant contact with the disc. You notice this through a noticeably hot wheel after a drive, a burning smell, pulling to one side under braking, higher fuel consumption and pads wearing quickly on one side. Preferably replace brake calipers in axle pairs — left and right — so the braking force is equal on both sides. Fill with fresh brake fluid straight away and bleed the system thoroughly; also check the brake hose, because a hose that has collapsed internally produces exactly the same symptoms as a seized caliper. Calipers with an electronic parking brake require calibration with diagnostic equipment.
