Control arm with ball joint: the cost-effective all-in-one solution
On the compact Peugeots, the ball joint is pressed firmly into the control arm. If the ball joint is worn out — audible as clonking over speed bumps and noticeable as play in the steering — a complete control arm including ball joint and bushings is usually quicker to fit and cheaper than overhauling the parts separately. Creaking when steering points to a strut mount, a droning tone that grows with speed to a wheel bearing; on the 107 and 108 you replace the rear one as a complete hub unit. Work on the left and right at the same time and align the car after replacing control arms.
