Other engine parts
Engine miscellaneous gathers the engine parts that do not fit neatly into one box but are indispensable all the same: oil sumps and sump pans for BMW, Mini, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Opel, among others, valve covers for BMW N53/N47 and Citroën/Peugeot, oil and air filters, PCV oil separators, crankcase breather kits, DISA valves and universal aluminium oil catch tanks for project cars.
Crankcase ventilation: small part, big consequences
A blocked or torn PCV valve or crankcase breather creates overpressure in the block. The engine then pushes oil out past the seals and gaskets, or sucks oil into the intake tract — resulting in a smoking exhaust and fouled valves. On BMW six-cylinders (M52/M54, N53) this is a classic failure; you will find the complete breather kit here. A dented or leaking oil sump after grounding out is best replaced straight away, together with a new gasket and fresh oil plus filter. For tuned engines, an oil catch tank keeps oil vapour out of the intake.
