Engine external & lubrication

Engine external & lubrication brings together everything mounted on the outside of the block and everything that supplies the engine with oil. Think of oil coolers and complete cooler kits (from 7 to 30 rows, AN10, with thermostat and sandwich adapter), oil pumps, oil sumps, valve covers, oil catch tanks, engine mounts, PCV and crankcase breathers and timing components — for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW/Audi, Citroën and Mini, among others, plus plenty of universal parts for project cars.

Lubrication in order: cheaper than a rebuild

By far the most engine damage starts with the oil. A blocked crankcase breather pushes oil past the seals, a worn oil pump delivers too little pressure and overheated oil loses its lubricating properties. If you often tow a trailer, run a tuned engine or drive on track, fit an oil cooler kit with thermostat: it only opens at around 73-83 °C, so the engine still reaches operating temperature as normal. An oil catch tank keeps oil vapour out of the intake tract and prevents fouled valves on direct-injection engines. Leaks at the sump or valve cover? Replace the cover or sump pan together with a new gasket.
