Crankshafts
The crankshaft converts the up-and-down movement of the pistons into rotary motion, making it the heart of the engine block. In this collection you will find crankshafts by engine code — including for the BMW N20, N55 and N57, the VW/Audi EA888 2.0 TFSI, Mazda 2.2 diesel and Land Rover/Jaguar 2.0D — supplemented by crankshaft pulleys (harmonic dampers), complete kits with connecting rods and bearings, and the seal and locking tools you need for fitting.
When to replace, and what to look out for?
A dull knock that rises and falls with engine speed, or low oil pressure, points to worn bearing journals: the crankshaft is then due for reconditioning or replacement. Always replace the main and big-end bearings and the seals during fitting, and check the end float. For tuning there are also forged and billet 4340 crankshafts available, such as for the Toyota GS300/Aristo. A worn crankshaft pulley with cracked rubber gives itself away through vibrations and a rattling noise at idle — you will find those here by engine code too.
