Clutch & flywheel

Pedal sticking or returning slowly?

A sinking or spongy clutch pedal almost always points to a leaking master or slave cylinder — check the brake fluid level and bleed the entire circuit after replacement. If the clutch itself slips or rattles, always replace the kit complete including the release bearing, and at high mileages have the (dual-mass) flywheel checked too: the labour of removing the gearbox a second time costs more than the part.
