Losing coolant without a visible puddle?
A slowly dropping level without a leak spot under the car often points to a hairline crack in the expansion tank or a sweating hose connection — on BMWs in particular, an aged plastic tank is a classic. Squeeze the hoses briefly with the engine cold: if they feel spongy or swollen, replace them preventively. A pressure test on the cooling system tracks down the leak within minutes.
