Replacing the timing? Lock first, then loosen
Always lock the crankshaft and camshafts with the correct locking set before the old belt or chain comes off: resetting by feel ends in bent valves on interference engines. Our sets are described by engine code (for example CKFB, CLHA or N46t), so check your engine code on the block or in the vehicle registration records. If you doubt the condition of the head, measure compression or cylinder leakage first — that determines whether stripping it down is worthwhile at all.
