Timing & belts
The timing system synchronises the crankshaft and camshaft(s), making it quite literally vital for the engine. In this collection you will find timing chain kits and timing belt kits by engine code — including for the VW/Audi 1.8 and 2.0 TSI/TFSI (EA888), BMW/Mini N47 diesel, the 1.6 FSI and Peugeot 207/308 — plus tensioners, guide pulleys, VVT solenoid valves and the setting and locking tools for virtually every make, from Ford EcoBoost to Renault dCi and Fiat 1.3 MultiJet.
Replace the water pump at the same time
On many engines the timing belt also drives the water pump. Always replace it in the same job: the labour cost is already part of the work, and a leaking pump would otherwise mean stripping everything down twice. Where possible, choose a complete kit with belt or chain, tensioner and pulleys. Stick strictly to the replacement interval — on most modern interference engines a snapped belt or skipped chain means bent valves and a wrecked cylinder head. If the chain rattles on a cold start, do not wait: the tensioner or guides are already worn.
