Complete turbo or just the control side?
Blue smoke or play on the shaft calls for a new turbo: the K03/K03S (53039880005, 058145703L) for the 1.8T, the K04-015 (53039880073) as a quattro upgrade or the 03G145702F for the 2.0 TDI with engine code BRE/BRF/BVF. If only the boost pressure drops away while the turbo is mechanically sound, the actuator is often the culprit — we supply these separately, from the vacuum-operated version for the B6 2.0-2.5 TDI (059145701F) to the electronic actuator for the B8 2.0 TFSI. On the older B5 and B6 1.8T, a blocked oil feed line is the classic cause of failure; always replace it at the same time (06B145771F for the B5 quattro). When in doubt, always check the engine code on the identification plate: several turbo variants occur within a single model year.
