Choose by platform and drivetrain
The A3 shares its underpinnings with the VW Golf: 8L sets generally also fit the Golf 4 and Bora, 8P sets fit the Golf 5/6 and Passat B6, and 8V sets fit the Golf 7, Seat Leon 5F and Skoda Octavia Mk3. For the 8V and S3 there is a 24-way set with adjustable damping (2012-2019); for the 8L we supply an affordable lowering kit that also covers the 1.9 TDI FWD, and for the latest 8Y Sportback a set for the FWD version. Pay attention to the drivetrain: quattro versions have a different rear axle than the front-wheel-drive models, so choose your set by drivetrain and not just by model year. A 24-way set is worth considering as soon as you want the car comfortable during the week and firm at the weekend — damping can be adjusted per drive.
